Blogtober | TBR: October 2019

This is my first ever October that I am not having to readjust to being in another part of the country in three years, or having to refocus back to the books that have been assigned as required reading... and I'm terrified. Perfect timing for Hallowe'en then.

The Lie Tree
Frances Hardinge
Goodreads
UK Publisher | Macmillan Children's Books
UK Release Date | May 7th, 2015
I've had this book for so long - since it won the Costa Prize - and every time I glaze over it to pick up something else. Which shouldn't be the case, as I've read Hardinge's books before and loved them! Since graduating, I have had a big focus on all the books have just been sitting on my shelf, so now it's this book's time to shine.

The Bone Garden
Heather Kassner
Goodreads
UK Publisher | Titan Books
UK Release Date | July 23rd, 2019
I'm not completely sure who this book is aimed at, whether it's YA or Middle Grade, but it has comparisons to Neil Gaiman and has an interestingly dark fairy-tale premise. Perfect for the spooky month.

Wychwood (Wychwood #1)
George Mann
Goodreads
UK Publisher | Titan Books
UK Release Date | September 27th, 2017
Maybe I should stop going into books blind. I just know that this murder-thriller-horror?

Northern Lights (His Dark Materials #1)
Philip Pullman
Goodreads
UK Publisher | Everyman's Library
UK Release Date | 2011 (first published 2000)
If you haven't heard yet, the HBO/BBC adaptation of Pullman's His Dark Materials is almost upon us, with the release date of November 3rd (UK). I've been meaning to do a reread all year, but never finding the right mood for it and wanting to wait until Autumn/Winter. This month will be the last chance to reread, at least the first book, until after the TV show airs.

The Devouring Gray (The Devouring Gray #1)
Christine Lynn Herman
Goodreads
UK Publisher | Titan Books
UK Release Date | April 16th, 2019
Titan Books are really ruling my October TBR. Maybe someone should stop publishing great Autumn feeling books, no? Yeah, I won't be that person either.

    1. Thanks Cora! I keep putting of The Lie Tree, even though I read A Skinful of Shadows last year and loved it.
